Set up an email address in Apple Mail (macOS)

Would you like to configure your MostHosted email address on a Mac? Follow these steps to add your email account to the standard macOS Mail app (Mac OS X).

Step 1: Open the Mail app

Open the Mail app on your Mac. If this is the first time you use it, a screen to add a new account will appear automatically. If not, follow this step:

• In the menu bar, click Mail > Add Account…

Step 2: Choose ‘Other Mail Account…’

In the window that appears, choose Other Mail Account… and click Continue.

Step 3: Enter your account details

Enter the following details:

• Name: your name as you want recipients to see it
• Email address: your email address, for example jouwnaam@domein.nl
• Password: the password for your email address

Then click Sign In. If macOS reports that it cannot automatically verify the account settings, continue to manual configuration.

Step 4: Enter settings manually

Choose IMAP (recommended) as the account type and use the following settings:

Incoming email (IMAP)

• Incoming mail server: mail.mosthosted.com
• Port: 993
• Encryption: SSL/TLS
• Username: your full email address
• Password: your email password

Outgoing email (SMTP)

• Outgoing mail server: mail.mosthosted.com
• Port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
• Encryption: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS
• Authentication required: Yes
• Username: your full email address
• Password: your email password

Step 5: Confirm and finish

Click Sign In. If everything is entered correctly, your email account will be added to the Mail app and you can immediately send and receive email.
