Set up an email address in Mozilla Thunderbird

Follow the steps below to configure your MostHosted email address in Mozilla Thunderbird.

Step 1: Start Thunderbird

• Open Mozilla Thunderbird on your computer.
• If this is the first time you open Thunderbird, you will immediately be asked to add an email address. If not, go to Settings > Account Actions > Add Mail Account.

Step 2: Enter account details

• Your name: the name recipients of your email will see.
• Email address: jouwnaam@domein.nl
• Password: the password for your email account
• Optionally select Remember password on.
• Click Continue.

Step 3: Manual configuration

Thunderbird will try to retrieve settings automatically. Click Manual configuration as soon as this option is available.

Incoming email (IMAP – recommended)

• Protocol: IMAP
• Server: mail.mosthosted.com
• Port: 993
• Encryption: SSL/TLS
• Authentication: Normal password

Outgoing email (SMTP)

• Server: mail.mosthosted.com
• Port: 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS)
• Encryption: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS
• Authentication: Normal password

Username for both

• Username: your full email address, for example info@jouwdomein.nl.

Step 4: Finish

• Click Done to add the account.
• Thunderbird tests the settings and saves the account if everything is correct.

Troubleshooting

• Check the ports and security settings if login fails.
• Make sure your username and password are correct.
• Preferably use IMAP so emails remain synchronised across all devices.
